Air coolers for aerospace: temperature control in demanding environments

On technical industrial sites, production quality depends on temperature and humidity control. The FoxAir aeronautical air cooler offers fine control and great robustness, while remaining simple to install.

What are the challenges of air conditioning in industrial aeronautical spaces?

In this cutting-edge field, a professional air cooler must provide a reliable solution, backed up by responsive after-sales service. Because the aeronautics industry tolerates neither approximation nor production stoppages, FoxAir is the ideal partner for companies in this sector.

In concrete terms, industrial processes in this field require ultra-precise, constant thermal and hygrometric conditions.

The adiabatic cooler for the aeronautics industry meets these two expectations. Professionals can prevent any heat-related risks or disruptions to their business.

What are the features of the FoxAir range of coolers?

Our solution is based on adiabatic air conditioning, inspired by the natural phenomenon of evaporation. The principle is simple:

1.
Hot air is drawn in by the unit.
2.
It passes through a continuously humidified heat exchanger (using the built-in reservoir).
3.
Water evaporates by capturing some of the heat in the air.
4.
The cooled air is then released into the environment.

What kind of performance can you expect from an adiabatic cooler in the aerospace industry?

Compared with a conventional industrial air-conditioning system, the evaporative cooler for aeronautics offers immediately measurable benefits.

For example, a manufacturer of aircraft parts is looking for a solution to refresh its laser cutting workshops. The company was faced with severe constraints in terms of avoiding material expansion and guaranteeing the repeatability of dimensional checks.

Specifically, in critical areas, temperature tolerance is often no more than 1 to 2°C. Humidity is generally capped at 50%. The final constraint is cleanliness (absence of dust, oil and other particles).

FoxAir offers a two-pronged approach to these demanding specifications:

Robust mobile evaporative coolers,

capable of managing temperature and humidity with extreme finesse

High-performance, ultra-reactive service

in the event of a breakdown, maintenance or after-sales service requirement

In a field as specialized as aeronautics, service is just as important as product quality. And the purchase price cannot be the main argument.

Industrial cooling solutions: what to choose?

There are four main product families for this type of environment.

Professional air conditioning

Professional air conditioning offers excellent performance. On the other hand, it requires extensive work, or even a temporary halt in activity. It also comes with a high operating cost: 25 kW to cool 1,000 m² in the best case, compared with around 4 kW with a FoxAir adiabatic system.

Fixed adiabatic cooler :

The fixed adiabatic cooler works on the principle of evaporation. However, it is generally installed on the roof, where the air is warmest. It requires a great deal of work, and must first cool the entire upper part of the volume before getting to where it's needed: at operator and machine level.

Low-cost evaporative cooler

Low-cost evaporative coolers appear to offer the same features as high-end models. In reality, it offers half the temperature gain, undersized pumps and motors, and virtually no service in the event of a problem.

FAQ

Yes, it can rapidly lower temperatures down to 18°C without the need for refrigerants or complex circuits.

The cost of an evaporative cooler for the aeronautical industry depends on requirements, environmental configuration, and technical and professional constraints.

The most economical equipment to use is the adiabatic system, which consumes very little energy and recycles the water used.

Our largest models have a noise level of around 71 dB at 3 m, equivalent to a domestic vacuum cleaner.
