Air coolers for industry: reducing heat without air conditioning
With temperatures regularly exceeding 35°C, employees and machines are subjected to extreme conditions. More than just a source of discomfort, heat has a direct impact on team safety and productivity. That’s where industrial air coolers come in.
What are the challenges facing the cooling industry?
The FoxAir professional air cooler provides an effective response to the thermal problems of the industry. High temperatures can bring machinery to a standstill, damage materials or render certain operations impossible.
Working conditions quickly become unbearable, especially for employees required to wear PPE. What’s more, certain activities, such as plastics processing or foundry work, require humidity control.
So what cooling solution should be adopted to maintain performance and restore comfort without over-consuming energy? The industrial mobile adiabatic cooler is the answer.
What are FoxAir adiabatic solutions?
The adiabatic cooler works on the principle of evaporation. Warm air is passed through a wet heat exchanger, which captures part of the heat. It is then re-injected into the environment.
Evaporative coolers for industry do more than just cool the air. The FoxAir range of coolers not only offers fine temperature control (ambient or supply), but also humidity control. This is a major advantage in industrial environments.
Even better: the professional mobile air conditioner can be installed quickly, with no work or regulatory constraints. It lowers the temperature as soon as it’s switched on, and becomes increasingly efficient as the ambient heat increases. The FoxAir solution is also flexible, adapting to large volumes as well as complex or atypical configurations.
Professional air conditioners are widely used by manufacturers in production, logistics, printing, electrical and electronics manufacturing, steelworks, foundries, precision machining, plastics, watchmaking, logistics, warehousing…
What results can you expect from an evaporative cooler in industry?
To understand the benefits of this equipment, let’s look at a concrete example.
Company X manufactures stainless steel parts for the high-tech industry. Each workshop measures 2,000 to 3,000 m², making it difficult to envisage the installation of air conditioning.
Summer temperatures between 35 and 40°C, combined with high ceilings and heat reverberating off the metal, create an unbearable greenhouse effect, and precision pairing is made difficult if not impossible.
FoxAir designed a customized solution to this problem. We installed several industrial adiabatic coolers in strategic locations, notably at the end of aisles and close to workstations.
The result is convincing:
by about 10 °C
that eliminates the sensation of suffocation
for precise dimensional measurements
How to choose your industrial cooling solution?
Here’s a checklist to help you choose the right cooling equipment for your industry::
current temperature VS target temperature, thermal load (machines, processes and occupancy), seasonal variations, heat sensitivity of equipment or products
open or enclosed space, ceiling height, building insulation, presence of dust, solvents, fumes or humidity
access to water, electrical power, network constraints (chilled water, compressed air, etc.)
initial investment, operating costs (energy, water and maintenance), plant lifetime
water and energy consumption, use of refrigerants, regulatory compliance (ISO standards), corporate CSR commitments
even temperature, draughts, noise level, air quality
space requirements, complexity of work, possible production downtime
control systems, zoning options, connectivity...
FAQ
Is the adiabatic cooler compatible with humid environments?
A humid environment limits the performance of industrial air coolers: the hotter and drier it is, the greater the cooling effect. That’s why it’s essential for the unit to have humidity control, and for the room being treated to be well ventilated.
Is an adiabatic air conditioner noisy?
With noise levels ranging from 61.5 to 71.7 dB at 3 m, the new FoxAir models provide real comfort for operators. Adjustable fan speed allows adaptation to any noise environment.
Is FoxAir equipment effective in industrial environments?
Our coolers can save up to 18°C while consuming up to ten times less energy than air-conditioning. Each unit cools 200 to 300 m².
How can I test the FoxAir solution without investing?
We offer short-term rental for all our cooling equipment.
