Air coolers for sports: reducing heat in indoor complexes

Gyms and other sports halls represent a real thermal challenge. High ceilings, complex configurations, a feeling of increased warmth on the part of participants… To meet these constraints, FoxAir offers sports air coolers designed for large volumes.

What are the problems associated with heat in sports halls?

Choosing a professional air cooler for sports facilities is no mean feat. These buildings are generally imposing, with different distinct spaces – sports field, changing rooms, bleachers… Lighting, equipment, human presence and physical activity generate a great deal of heat. This affects the comfort of occasional users, the performance of competitors and the well-being of the public.

Secondly, like all ERP facilities, indoor sports halls are subject to stringent regulations. Finally, whether the complex belongs to a club or a local authority, the economic argument is at the heart of the debate. How can a gymnasium be refreshed without major work or investment?

What cooling solutions does FoxAir offer for gyms?

FoxAir specializes in adiabatic systems, a technology that enables evaporative cooling in sports complexes. Our mobile coolers are designed for professional use and capable of cooling very large volumes.

It works as follows: the air is drawn in by the machine. It passes through a wet heat exchanger which captures the heat and evaporates it. The cooled air is returned to the room.

More than just auxiliary air conditioners, our equipment provides real thermal comfort in sports environments, even in the hottest weather. In particular, they enable :

A significant drop in temperature
Quick installation, no work required
Cooling open or semi-open spaces
Targeting really useful areas

rather than air-conditioning the entire building

What results can you expect from an evaporative cooler in a gymnasium?

Let’s imagine an indoor complex with the following characteristics:

Industrial building
Four five-a-side soccer pitches
A futsal pitch
A reception area
Dedicated e-sport areas

The problem lies in the high temperatures, which build up in the building and make the land almost unusable in summer.

Installing a mobile evaporative cooler in this indoor complex enables the temperature to be reduced by 8 to 15°C, depending on requirements and the season. This improves player and spectator comfort, increases attendance and accelerates the equipment’s return on investment.

In terms of installation costs and energy consumption, the municipality is staying within budget, while limiting its environmental footprint.

Adiabatic coolers VS conventional air conditioners: what are the differences?

For a long time, traditional air conditioning was the only option for cooling sports halls. While this solution is often effective, it also has serious disadvantages. Conversely, installing a mobile evaporative cooler in a sports hall offers many advantages.

Here’s how it works in practice:

Installation:

air-conditioning requires heavy, costly work; the adiabatic cooler requires only a power supply (and a nearby water supply to fill the tank).

Regulations :

air conditioners use refrigerants, which are potentially polluting and require accreditation to handle; evaporative coolers use water.

Thermal comfort :

Roof-mounted air-conditioning units must first cool the upper layers of air; mobile adiabatic units are installed on the ground, where the need for cooling is concentrated.

Operating economy :

industrial air conditioning is extremely energy-intensive - around 2.5 kW/100 m² for the best models; evaporative coolers, on the other hand, consume around 400 W to cool the same surface area.

Flexibility :

the installation of professional air conditioning for large volumes is fixed; mobile adiabatic coolers allow you to target the areas to be cooled as a priority.

FAQ

Adiabatic technology enables temperatures to be lowered by an average of 7-8°C, and up to 18°C depending on the environment.

The mobile cooler presents very few constraints. All it needs is to be installed on a stable surface and plugged into a standard 220 V outlet.

The brushless motor fitted to our new models guarantees a quiet cooler (approx. 61 to 71 dB at 3 m).

Yes, FoxAir offers rental of mobile adiabatic coolers for a few days, weeks or months.
