Cooler or humidifier:
We explain the difference!

News / Cooler or humidifier
Are you looking to equip your premises for the comfort of your employees, and wondering whether air fresheners and humidifiers mean the same thing? FoxAir, the evaporative air freshener specialist, explains the difference between the two, and the specific features of each…

Air fresheners and humidifiers: are they the same thing?

Yes and no. Yes, because an air freshener (or room cooler) effectively humidifies the atmosphere through its action.

No, because there are many different types ofhumidifier, and the cooler is just one of them.

A significant proportion of these devices are similar to misters: you fill a reservoir, and the water is propelled into the room. Others release a thick, cold vapour, or emit ultrasound to propel drops of water into the atmosphere. All of these processes have nothing whatsoever to do with the cooler principle.

In addition, the term “humidifier” is more geared towards domestic use, while “cooler” can refer to both professional and consumer devices.

If you’re a professional looking to treat a large area, this is the machine to turn to.

How does an adiabatic cooler work? What are the advantages?

The principle of the adiabatic cooler is simple: the device reproduces a 100% natural process: evaporation.

How? The machine captures ambient air with its fan, then passes it through a pad moistened with water from the reservoir before redistributing it into the room. Once evaporation has taken place, no water is propelled into the air, but the ambient temperature drops rapidly (depending on air humidity) to 15°C.

Not only does it consume very little energy and have excellent autonomy, but unlike an air conditioner, it doesn’t use any polluting refrigerants.

The icing on the cake is that this is a one-piece product, requiring no costly installation.

For a professional, the advantage is clear, especially since an industrial cooler like those in the FoxAir range can cool from 90 to several hundred square meters. All our units are also mobile: equipped with castors, you can place them wherever you need them most.

Now that you know the difference between a cooler and a humidifier, you can make an informed choice.
